Research and Development
The Housing Fair and the Holiday Homes Housing Fair are important tools used to demonstrate the latest visions for the future. However, we also adhere to the principal of working to the common good and, as such, promoting and supporting research and passing on information to consumers.
We annually award the “Casa Humana “ prize and scholarship for the support of research into the field of housing. The scholarships and awards have promoted, for example, research into the status of children as regards housing, healthy housing environments and ecological housing solutions.
Finland’s Housing and Holiday Homes Organization works in co-operation with the host municipality to arrange design and architectural competitions for quality of design in planning of the fair area and its housing.
The Finnish Housing Fair Co-operative has supported and brought to realisation countless research projects over the years. An example of this would be in 2004, when research was launched in five housing fair municipalities into the success of the themes of housing areas from the residents’ point of view. Suunnittelukeskus Oy is carrying out the research with guidance from the University of Technology. In 2004, Janne Ahonen, of the Future Home Institution of the University of Technology, was also supported in his research entitled “Living in a detached house-a cultural and anthropological perspective of life in a detached house in Finland”
Research is conducted at every fair
The Finnish Housing Fair Co-operative Organisation conducts research at every fair; findings are gathered as to the success of the fair from both the visitors and the exhibitors’ point of view. At the same time research is conducted into visitor satisfaction and any changes that may be needed in the experience of visiting the fair.
