Housing Fair 2010 in Kuopio
The 2010 Housing Fair will be held in the Saaristokaupunki area of Kuopio 16.7.-15.8.2010.
The main themes of the Fair express some of the key aspects of continuously improving housing which are highlighted in the Fair as a whole:
• Quality of life – a house of your dreams in a lakeside setting
• Low-energy housing – environmentally friendly housing with low running costs
• A garden of one’s own – for the family to enjoy an active life together
The Housing Fair itself will be located in the suburb of Saaristokaupunki,
the “Town of Islands”, a park-like diversified residential area which is being
created on the islands and headlands of Lake Kallavesi.
Kuopio Housing Fair exhibition is a real residential area comprising
dozens of newly built detached and terraced houses. The Lakeland scenery
of the surroundings stimulates and enriches the quality of residential life.
Visitors to the Fair can inspect numerous buildings along the shore and, of
course, the lakeside saunas which Finns love so much.
In addition to the outstanding beauty of its location, the Housing Fair site
also benefits from fast and convenient transport connections and excellent
access to municipal services. A day-care centre, a shop and a school
are being built nearby. And Kuopio is also an inland port which offers
exceptionally good opportunities to take a cruise on the Finnish lakes and
inland waterways. People visiting the Fair can come by boat, and everyone
can enjoy the beauty of the lakes and islands.

Ticket sales at the fair site will end one hour before closing time.
Arriving at the Housing Fair
For guests arriving by car, there is a parking area situated a few kilometres from the housing fair site. There are signs guiding to the parking area from the main roads. Parking is not allowed in the vicinity of the fair site.
The free fair bus will shuttle non-stop between the parking area, city centre and housing fair entrance. You can stop off at the city centre, railway station or Passenger Harbour. The buses will run between 9.30 am and 6.30 pm.
The Kuopio region can be reached in less than an hour by air from Helsinki, the capital of Finland, and by road or rail the journey only takes a few hours.
