Holiday Housing Fair 2008 in Pori
The Finnish Housing Fair Co-operative Organisation and the City of Pori organizined the Holiday Housing Fair 2008 in Reelinki in Reposaari in Pori, 13th June to 6th July, 2008. The eighth national Holiday Housing Fair took place in a seaside location only half an hour’s drive from the Centre of Pori.
The fair area featured a total of 29 holiday homes. They included nine holiday homes with beach, eight cabins with beach, one removable cabin, and a detached house. In addition, a small apartment block had eight holiday apartments, four of which were open to visitors during the fair.
Originally constructed as a harbour office in 1836, a beautiful wooden building by Satamapuisto Park that later served as a child welfare clinic has been thoroughly renovated for the fair. The first floating holiday homes in Finland, two of which will be introduced at the fair, have attracted special attention in advance. The three Yyteri villas served as an adjacent attraction of the fair.
The attraction of the idyllic Reposaari island lies in its village community, fish harbour, fish restaurants, attractive wooden town setting, and the beaches that have been formed by Bothnian Sea. Reposaari has a long tradition of navigation. The beaches of Satamapuisto Park, filled with the soil that was used as segregated ballast in ships, and the rare plants that came to Finland with it, are reminders of that time. Wind turbines erected by the road running along the embankment and on the breakwaters represent modern life and the ecologically-conscious future.
One of the objectives of the Holiday Housing Fair in Pori was to offer solutions to the needs of normal people concerning the construction, renovation, interior decoration, gardening, and leisure activities relating to holiday housing and to introduce the newest inventions in these fields. In addition to the fixed buildings, the fair area also featured a comprehensive, high-class, and functional outdoor exhibition area.
