The 2007 Housing Fair in Hämeenlinna
The 2007 Housing Fair was held in Hämenlinna´s Harvoilanmäki area. The Housing Fair site is located around four kilometres from the centre of the town to the east of Katuma lake. The Harvoilanmäki area is situated on a beautiful pine covered ridge that rises to a height of around 30 metres. The ridge’s western slope has views of Lake Katuma and the golf course located on the shores of the lake.
The Harvoilanmäki Housing fair area consisted of 35 detached houses, 7 semi-detached, 4 conjoined houses, four low rise apartment buildings of which two have terraced houses at their ends. The majority of the houses in the Housing Fair area are low-rise homes and the total number of residences is 112.
The Harvoilanmäki homes were built from a diversity of materials including stone, brick, wood and logs with building styles ranging from traditional to modern. The facades of the houses are situated close to the street, evoking the traditional building style of the old times in the Häme area but with a modern twist. The average size of a plot of land for a detached house is around 1000 m2. The homebuilders consist of private families, commercial house package companies, construction firms, building construction industry representatives as well as local enterprises.
